Buckskin: bay + one cream gene
E_ A_ Crcr
The single cream gene does not affect the
otherwise-bay horse's black
lower legs, mane or tail, though it may add "frosting" to the black mane or tail, and causes the body color to lighten from the red of a bay to the
gold of a buckskin.

Folly , owned by Natalie
Nelson, is a 1994 AQHA buckskin stallion. Cro had a successful show
career with multiple grands & reserves in AQHA competition. He was
undefeated in ABRA (buckskin) sanctioned halter classes in his home
state of Arizona and stood 3rd at the 1996 ABRA World Show in Open &
Amateur Halter Stallions! He returned to he ABRA World and stood 4th in
Open Aged Stallions and 6th in Amateur Stallions. His half
brother Blue Eyed Paradise (both sired by
Paradise Folly) is denied AQHA registration simply due to being the
wrong color, and is every bit as nice as his half brother.
Paradise Legacy (Paradise Folly x Luck Has It, right)
and her 2000 bay foal "Perpetual Paradise". The
buckskin mare has only one cream gene, which she got from her sire (her
dam, right, does not have one), and which she evidently did not pass on
to this foal.
the right is the foal's "grandma", Luck Has It,
"just" a bay with a buckskin daughter due to Paradise Folly's
one cream gene. She is an own daughter of Dry Doc Junior. Note: Blue
Eyed Paradise, from our cremello page, is a half brother to The
Paradise Legacy, above, left!

Semi Sugar Chocolate: She is a very dark buckskin and has light
brown eyes. She was born looking black. She produced this palomino foal
when bred to a bay paint stallion. The "sooty" gene can
make a buckskin look almost bay, but they will generally still have
golden areas. Her dam is Folly
Question, the smoky black QH mare, and her sire is a brown
Quarter Horse named Poco High Dollar. She is pictured with Fancy,
her Y2K palomino breeding stock filly by our bay tobiano stud BH Gay
Snaky Bud. Fancy is a clear gold with amber eyes, white mane
