Horse Color Research

There is a lot of research going on today, of many different kinds, all over the world, into horse colors.  This is no doubt partly because of the economic value of a horse's color, but I know there must also be many like me who just WANT TO KNOW.

We are not going to document the DNA type research going on; we leave that for the universities.  Rather, we're recording the microscopic and macroscopic (big enough to see with the naked eye) appearance of horses' hairs and their colors.

The two links below lead to a page of enlarged hairs and their identification, and another page discussing different types and textures of the hair itself.
