Why MUSHROOM isn't Silver (Z)

The colors called Mushroom by their breeders seem to occur only in certain lines of ponies in the UK and Australia.  Because black-based miniature horses and ponies with the silver gene plus other dilutions look much like those ponies, it was suspected that they could be black based and carrying the silver perhaps mixed with dun and/or cream.

HOWEVER.... the color seems to occur exclusively in red-based (ee) horses.
